You know what? People can talk shit on tumblr all they want(and rightfully so) but I just want to say that tumblr was the first visual social media that I ever went on and saw different types of attractive people who were outside the typical conventions of skinny, white, light skinned, straight hair, muscular, able bodied,etc.
I mean tumblr is an absolute cesspool, don’t get me wrong, but I really got to see so many different types of people just flaunt their beauty in selfies and photo sets that just broadened my horizons of what beauty is and could be as well as just seeing people just be gussied up and flaunting all their “imperfections.” In a context that wasn’t sexualized or ripe with discouraging critique.
That’s really one of the good things I can at least say about “tumblr culture,” having been on it since 2012.
